Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy offered in an underwater treadmill offers many benefits for animals recovering from injury, conditions such as arthritis, hip dysplasia, disc disease, joint disease and injury recovery. But also assists with pain or swelling, stiffness and strengthens muscles, promotes circulation and increases fitness and assists in modifying gait. Hydrotherapy can also assist in faster recovery from injury and help strengthen muscles.

The water provides resistant to stregthen muscles and the buoyancy takes the pressure of gravity off joints making it a low impact exercise.

Research shows that this type of hydrotherapy speeds up muscle strengthening and improves joint range and motion following surgery and is also a natural anti-inflammatory due to the waters ability to reduce swelling in the tissues.

Bodywork therapy

Canine bodywork refers to a range of therapeutic techniques and practices aimed at improving the physical and emotional well-being of dogs through hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues, muscles, and joints to stimulate the body’s natural responses and bring about self-healing.

Bodywork has shown results in treating Arthritis, Joint pain, Back and neck pain, Injury recovery, Inflammation, Enhanced circulation and Lymphatic drainage, Stress and Anxiety as well as Digestive Disorders and Allergy and immune responses in many animals.

Bodywork treats not only the symptoms, considering the body as a whole to bring about deep long-lasting healing and pain relief.

Red Light therapy

The specific wave lengths used in Red Light Therapy – RLT penetrate deep into the tissue and joint spaces, they increase circulation which improves oxygenation and removal or metabolic waste. They are also effective at easing inflammation and promoting the release of endorphins which can considerably reduce pain.

RLT wavelengths increase circulation by increasing the formation of new capillaries and this allows for more blood supply and faster removal of metabolic wastes. It also increases activity in the lymphatic system promoting faster removal of swelling in the tissues.

Studies show that RLT stimulates the production of collagen, which is an essential element in repairing damaged tissue and stimulates the release of ATP – Adenosine triphosphate, which is the major carrier of energy to the cells.

Along with these amazing medical and therapeutic benefits RLT also relaxes the muscles and reduces stress.

Conditions RLT helps with:

  • Arthritis

  • Hip and elbow dysplasia

  • Injuries

  • Pain and inflammation

  • Wound healing

  • Reduces swelling

  • Recovery from illness

Prehab

Pre-habilitation (prehab) is a multi-modal strategy involving physical exercise, nutrition, and psychology to assist in preparation for surgery, stabilise pain levels and improve recovery by helping animals (and humans) get back on their feet faster after surgery. Currently, studies on pre-habilitation have only been conducted on humans and evidence is still growing. However, early indications are that patients who have had prehab for a minimum of 6 weeks pre-surgery show rewards for their efforts in as little as 24 hours after surgery.

The aim of pre-habilitation is to increase pre-operative functional reserve which can assist with leading to better post-operative functional recovery and reduced incidence of complications. Prehab can lead to a reduction in time needed for rest and confinement after surgery

Rehab assistance

Like pre-habilitaion, rehabilitation (rehab) is a multi-modal strategy of returning to health involving physical exercises, nutrition, and emotional support.

The purpose of rehab is to speed up the recovery process after illness, injury, or surgery so animals can return to normal life as quickly as possible. Rehab helps to improve range of motion and build and strengthen muscles and reduced incidence of complications.

When used post-operatively, rehab can commence as soon as one-week post-surgery with veterinary approval and can aid in reducing pain.

If an animal is required to be confined post-surgery, physical rehab can help reduce severity of muscle atrophy.
